Bang & Olufsen in association with Samsung designed their first sleek but unconventional phone, the Serene. It comprises of two equal parts hinged by aluminum. The display and microphone are in landscape orientation, in lower shell. In the middle of the upper shell, there is thumb operated wheel (for navigating menu options and functionalities on the phone) surrounded by circular keyboard with a concealed loudspeaker. B&O Serene is a phone with distinctive design and novel basic features.

The set of novel basic features include GPRS tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900 MHz), a 0.3 megapixel VGA camera with 3 resolution settings 640x480, 320x240, 160x120, 2.1-inch / 262,000-color (320x240 pixel) screen display, a WAP 2.0 browser, and Bluetooth enabled. It weighs 110 grams and measures 65x70x24mm when closed. There is a stylish docking station for charging. One particular thing about this docking station is that on charging, it permutes to 180 degrees angle (seeming upright) and gets automatically opened on incoming call or text message.

The phone has rated talktime and standby time of 3 hours and 10 days respectively.

B&O Serene's drawback/limitation is lackluster personalization options - download of ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers, games, and application is not permitted.
